Day 1 - 2015

What is it about the New Year celebration that gets us so excited and motivated to change our ways and incorporate new habits or destroy old ones?  Every year...it never fails...I, personally, am all ready to conquer the world the moment 12:01am hits on January 1st.  Slowly but surely...or let's be honest...way too quickly, that motivation wears off and I've barely begun to accomplish my goals, if I've even started.  So, this year, in the spirit of non-resolutions...my resolution is to not create one and just see what happens.

Today I was inspired to start a new blog (the old one HERE hasn't been updated in way too long)...and to start off my year by focusing on DAILY goals.  This way I don't get too overwhelmed up front and lose interest before I've even begun.

So today I began with a mental version of this list below:

As you can see I've accomplished the Create New Blog!  Yay for progress!  I've also created my 2015 planner and started my flylady tasks.  I have technically begun my master to do list in my head, but I need to get that down on paper.  So...here's where I'm at:

Create 2015 Planner

Someone on Facebook shared a link HERE a few days ago to a free printable planner!  I have been wanting to order an Erin Condren planner for a while now after following Belinda Selene and seeing her awesome planner projects.  However, they're a bit pricey and out of my range for the time being, so I settled for this adorable printable version and a three ring binder I had hanging around the house.  I still plan to dress it up like Belinda does hers.  Definitely check out the three links in this paragraph.

In the process of putting together my 2015 planner.

Start FlyLady Tasks

If you have not heard of FlyLady you should look her up!  The link for her website is HERE.  It is one of my all-time favorite organization & cleaning sites.  I signed up for her emails a while back and she begins by emailing you Baby Steps to complete each day to get into the habit of cleaning and on your way to a less chaotic life!  Today I began the first task:  Shine Your Sink!

As she explains in the email, it may seem silly to take time to do this when there are mountains of seemingly more important things to do, but for some odd reason...as she predicted..it helped me feel a lot better!  The process seemed a bit daunting at first but turned out to be quite easy.  She recommends house hold chemical cleaners, but for organic and all natural freaks like myself...you can improvise.  Here's the process:

Step 1:  Fill one side with hot water and add cleaners.  She recommends bleach but I used my own concoction of 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide and 5 to 10 drops each of Lemon and Wild Orange essential oils.  Above you see the left side soaking and ready to go and the filthy right side waiting for its turn.

I will talk about my essential oils from doTERRA in future posts, but suffice it to say...when it comes to everything...they are THE all-natural, pure way to go!

Step 2:  After letting each side soak for an hour, you then rinse it really well and scrub it out with...my choice:  Baking Soda.  I think I used a little too much baking soda for this, but it worked like a charm!

Now...there are more steps but you'll have to go check out the FlyLady for yourself!  I'll post a photo in another blog post of my finished sink as well.  I got interrupted with dinner before I could finish photos.

Amongst other things I managed to get done today, I'm feeling quite good about about the start to my New Year!  Here's to a 2015 full of Creating, Motivating and Invigorating!!

Thanks for reading!
